The projects completed in 2017 for Detroit Economic Growth Corporation aimed to change the perception of Detroit as a city supported solely by automotive manufacturing to a thriving, creative metropolis full of opportunity, new and modern development, and startup businesses. With many appealing incentives to inspire economic growth, DEGC needed to showcase the positive developments, affordable properties, and attentive service their organization offers to attract company relocation and expansion.
Atlas began with an in-person kickoff to determine the challenges DEGC was facing, and the goals for the new website. Atlas then performed a website content overhaul, auditing the current site and rewriting all website copy to appeal to DEGC’s target audience of site selectors, business owners and CEOs, and startups to market all the City of Detroit has to offer, while advertising the skilled and educated workforce and available retail, office and manufacturing spaces. We aimed to tell the story of Detroit as a progressive business climate to shift the current perceptions as just an industrial city. A custom modern, visual and user-friendly website was designed to feature this new content, which shows Detroit’s vibrancy and successes through photography and features robust supporting content like news stories, recent wins, and downloads.
Since the launch of the new website and various other marketing initiatives, Detroit has welcomed numerous new businesses to its downtown. Tata Technologies, a global engineering consulting organization recently publicized the relocation of it’s North American headquarters to Detroit set for early 2019, housing over 150 employees. In May 2018, Microsoft also opened it’s new regional headquarters in downtown Detroit, bringing 450 employees to their new 50,000 sq ft office.
