I started exploring cities and traveling at a really young age, inspired by my Grandfather, who had epic stories of the road from his time as a Broadway and traveling stage actor. I do now for work what I would do if I wasn’t working: get to know places inside and out. And, when I’m not working, I am lugging my wife and three daughters all over Denver and the western U.S.
My love of travel and seeing new places and cultures began with my journey at 3 weeks old from Modesto, California to Boulder, Colorado where I was raised. I grew up exploring the mountains with winter snow skiing and hiking, water skiing in Utah, boogie boarding on the waves of the Pacific Ocean, and traveling for school athletic events or family gatherings throughout the USA. My exploration of the world as an adult created a profound impact on my heart and soul and instilled a compassion for all cultures. Sharing life with my husband, 3 daughters, other family and friends here in Colorado and all over the world has enriched my soul and prepared me to be a wife, mom, Yoga Instructor and Director of Operations for Atlas Integrated.
I grew up in Colorado and Arizona, but much of my life has been spent traveling, as my family’s business took us all over the world. This allowed me to cultivate a passion for how people, companies and places intertwine to build vibrant economies, making client strategy at Atlas the perfect fit for me. I love experiencing new places and cultures through food. This love extends to my life right back here in Denver where I spend the majority of my out-of-office time trying new restaurants, experimenting with new recipes and working in my garden.
I’m deeply fascinated by places, specifically cities, and how they contribute to our built environment. Because of that, I channel my energies to empower economic development professionals and civic leaders to make their communities more vibrant. I have a strong interest and investment in urban revitalization trends which led to my founding of urbanSCALE.com in 2013. The concept introduced the first comprehensive measure of how urban a city is on a scale of 1 to 10. My opinion pieces and research from urbanSCALE have been featured in Planetizen and Outside Magazine’s annual “Best Places to Live” feature. I live in Austin, TX with my wife Cyndy and son Gavin where my hobby (obsession) is finding and tasting the world’s best tacos and barbecue.
My interest in software, places, and people make Atlas Integrated a perfect place for me to be. I love building software that delights our clients and serves the communities we work in. When traveling, I’m inspired to understand what makes a place unique – its values, traditions, culture and people. I take yoga with my coffee, prefer a bike to a car, and love exploring the outdoors with my husband and three kids.
Since I can remember, I’ve never been one to do things ‘half way.’ Growing up in San Diego, CA, I frequently hopped from volleyball tournaments at the beach to horseback riding in the mountains, from Europe to Mexico to Hawaii. In search of a change and to experience seasons, I took off to earn my Bachelor’s in Communications at The University of Colorado at Boulder where I then studied abroad in Australia, eventually moving from Brisbane, Perth, and Melbourne to the Gold Coast over 5 years, with stops in Fiji, New Zealand and Bali. Now back to the mountains in Denver, my passion for travel and seeking the ultimate culture shock continues!
Having grown up in Longmont, Colorado, I am one of the few natives at Atlas Integrated and pride myself on being an advocate for the Centennial State. As Atlas’ Senior Copywriter, I narrate illustrious stories about client communities through creative expression, and my writing always strives to elicit palpable emotion. I’ve co-authored each of Atlas’ annual research papers on high performance economic development, which have been shared with thousands of industry professionals. I’m a proud graduate of the University of Colorado Boulder with a B.S. in Journalism, and I spend my free time with my husband and two adorable sons.
My first memories were crafted on the islands of the Philippines and on the island of Guam but my family eventually immigrated and made new beginnings in the town of Cheyenne, WY. After developing my trade in Denver, I landed my first job at a digital design agency in NYC. I moved back and made Denver my home where I help at my parent’s restaurant and continue to apply my creativity at Atlas. In addition to traveling to experience other cultures and cuisines, my other favorite pastimes include photography, learning a new instrument, and wandering around downtown and up in the mountains.
Even though I’m a Boulder, CO born native, my love for traveling and places starts when my family moved to Oxford, England when I was a little baby. I grew up visiting different cities and states through baseball and golf tournaments. Seeing all these different places growing up solidified my passion for studying, exploring, and understanding the ways of life in different areas, which is why studied Geography/GIS while at CU. When I’m not in the office, you can find me either skiing, golfing, or rooting on my CO sports teams! Sko Buffs!
Growing up in the small town of Steamboat Springs, Colorado instilled in me a sense of adventure from a young age. Whether that adventure be a camp trip in the Rockies, a cross country road trip, or a spur of the moment trip to Japan; the draw of new sights, sounds and people has brought me all over the world. When I am not in the office you can find me on the slopes, in an ice rink, at the rodeo, or getting lost in the Rockies. My connections and experiences I have made all over the world have helped propelled me into my role working with and helping people achieve success.
